Spring Term

This week has been so exciting for me! All of my classes are still pretty new. I'm relieved that I'm not taking as heavy of a load as term!
Student Government has a lot going on... We have been doing class raps encouraging students to register to vote. I still need to do mine. Our goal is for each of us to visit/speak to at least three classes about registering. So far we have registered over 50 people.
We are having a clubs day pretty soon too. I think we are planning on having it outside with food and just letting each club set up their own table for people to find out more information about them. We are also trying to let more people know that anyone can start a club! They just have to get it chartered through Student Gov. I am praying for great weather and a great turn-out.
I'll let you know all about it next time, so long as it still takes place next Tuesday and Wednesday.
Bye,
Carly

SPRING BREAK

Welcome again, I hope everyone is enjoying their spring break!
Finals are over and school starts again in a few days. My Chemistry final was really exciting. We had to come up with our own experiment and share it with the class. I planned to use hydrogen fluoride paste and a stencil to etch glass. I didn't get to finish the whole thing, but I will try next term and possibly post a picture of it.
I'm really looking forward to the classes that I am taking spring term. I will have math every morning for about an hour. The the rest of my classes are on Tuesdays and Thursdays only. My Student Government office hours and meetings will be on Mondays and Wednesdays. I am also taking a public speaking class. My teacher for that is a long-time family friend and I know she is great at what she does! And, of course, I am taking the multi-level aerobics again. It is such a fun class.
I have to say one of my favorite things about college is the freedom you have with choosing your schedule and classes. You are all on your own and are forced to learn really fast. It's great!

DEAD WEEK

Hi again everyone!
Man, time can really fly by sometimes! It is really neat to put time and dedication into things even if you don't see the results right away. That's something I have really noticed this week. It's DEAD week.. Finals are coming up.. and then spring break! I am excited. Pretty soon these classes will be over.
We have already registered for spring term. I will be taking math, speech, and aerobics. Student governemtn has some big events coming up.. We are welcoming spring and the last term with perseverence!
Christ on Campus has really been looking to kick off some great activities next term too! It has really been a blessing to be used as a part of a lot of the activities that go on here at the school. Have a great week!

In the Beginning...

Hi Everyone,

Welcome to this site and to my first blog entry! Let me tell you a bit about myself. My name is Carly. This is my first year are Rogue Community College. I graduated from Grants Pass High last June.

Within the first few weeks of attending this college I saw fliers posted all around campus advertising applications for student government positions. I was excited to hear that this college has a student government! So I applied for the postition of Executive Secretary and was appointed the position.

As Executive Secretary I handle a lot of the mail the student government receives, I organize around the office, make the agenda and keep the minutes (notes and detailed record) for our weekly executive meetings.

I am currently taking fourteen credits here at the college. Mostly general classes. I have a 30+ hour per week job off campus. I also love being involved with my church as much as I can.

I recently started a club here at RCC called Christ on Campus. It involves a weekly bible study on Wednesdays from 12:15 to 1:00pm and all are invited.

My goal, Lord willing, is to get my transfer degree from RCC in the next two and a half years and then transfer to Westmont College in California. The reason I say two and a half years, instead of one and a half, is because I plan to be taking an out-of-state internship for a year begining this Fall. Otherwise my transer to Westmont would come sooner.

I hope everone is enjoying this weather as much as I am!
God Bless you tons!
